December 03 – Mulled wine

A pleasant winter warmer was waiting for us behind door number 3 of our outdoor ADVENTure calendar. Who wouldn’t be happy with a glass of glühwein (mulled wine for the Brits) steaming away on the fire? For added enjoyment make the fire outside, or pour the wine into a thermos and have it as a treat on a long walk! We enjoyed ours in the tipi after a day outside. There are plenty of recipes out there to try; here’s a basic one we used for this seasonal treat:

Get the fire going, pour out some wine, add in some cinammon, clove, allspice and citrus rind, chop up the orange, heat the wine for half an hour or so, light the candles, get the glasses ready and enjoy!
